1st Dentist Visit

Hurricane Pediatric Dentistry is holding a special promotion for the month of February. On Wednesdays you can bring your children in for free x-rays, teeth cleaning and check up by the Dentist. It is a really nice office too! When my sister told me about it I scheduled an appointment right away. It is always nice to get a check up! I told Jaerick he was going to the Dentist. He walked around all morning saying " I dowe to da Denis, I dowe Denis mom!" It was adorable (although I knew he had no idea what that meant). Well unfortunately he slept horribly the night before, and refused to eat breakfast that morning. So when we arrived he was fine. Once we got in the back he was not so fine! The Assistant tried to have him bite the paper to get an xray. He would bite it then take it out and say "SICK!" ha Then she tried to have him look up at this bat hanging above him and he looks up and says " SARY!" (scary) It was so funny! At that point he had enough and wanted down! ;0) I figured his teeth look good and at this young I can do without the X- Ray. I let him down and we went over to have him get his little teeth cleaned!! That's a joke! Every morning and night I brush his teeth and he never cries. Well he wasn't so fond on the assistant doing it! She tried to show him that the water squirts and even let him squirt the wall and her! Nope he didn't care you weren't going to get that anywhere near his mouth! She just brushed with his new toothbrush. He still didn't like it and threw quite the little fit. The Dentist then came over to check out his teeth and count them with a mirror. He kept trying to show Jaerick the mirror was cool and it was soft. Every time he would touch Jaerick with it Jaer would say "NO" and push it away. It was funny. So I held him down and let the doc. go to town! He told us his teeth look really good. He has a great jaw and should have enough room for all of his teeth. He is a little slow with actually getting teeth but the Dentist said that can be a good thing it just means less time for them to get cavities! The thing he mentioned was at this point to start really flossing like you would an adult. He also suggested those little floss pickers he said they are just faster and fun for kids. The visit was a lot different then I expected. Jaer is not one to ever throw a fit but he is going to be two soon!? lol oh no!
