  17. Pouring ( Use spoons, cups etc to pour from one thing to another.
  18. Putting sticks in bottle through funnel
  19. Line them up ( Jaer does this anyway but make lines with tape on carpet and let them line different items up)
  20. In between the lines ( tape on carpet a little path, make sure you make it wide enough for you child. And tell them to stay between the lines and have them walk the path. If they fall out they start over)
  21. Scoop it up! This is a great sensory one. Get anything you have around the home and let them scoop from one bucket/ bowl to another.
  22. Build a fort
  23. Fishing in the bathtub
  24. Balance Marbles on golf Ts
  25. Popsicle stick puzzles
  26. Pound sticks ( toothpicks) into clay/ play dough.
  27. Make a Monster (I literally get any random scrap paper, foil, cup cake liner, streamer strip or anything and let him go to town with a glue stick, glitter glue and googly eyes. )
  28. Reading time ( We do two different things with this. # 1. Regular : he sits on our story time rug ( like in most kindergartens) and I read Stories he picks 2 and I pick 1. Most of the time I'll end up reading 10 or more stories because he loves it. But you get the idea. I read his first choice then mine then his. Teaching him to share. #2 Read to mommy. This one I let him pick a book and I pick one. Then I go through with him and instead of reading the story we talk about the pictures and what WE think the story could be. It promotes discussion, paying attention to detail and imagination. He loves this one as well!
  29. Room by Room Exploration: This one I've done since he was just a few months old. And its really fun. Here's an example:: Go into the kitchen with your child and if they are old enough have them choose 10 items from the room to put in the basket ( you can use whatever) if they aren't old enough you choose the items. You can also have the child choose then mommy then child – taking turns. Once you are done you go sit on the floor and We lay out a towel. Then One by one you ea can pick out an Item and learn about it. What is it? A Whisk. How does it feel hard or soft! Hard Is it bigger or smaller then this bowl? Smaller. What do you think of this? Etc. Those type of things. Then when the basket is done you can go through and try and remember or learn where the items go. Its fun sensory when little and they learn new words and items. And where to put things away.
  30. What letter do I start with. This is one you can do by taking pictures of items on cards and letters on other cards. Then when they see an item they say what it is. Then you say What letter do I start with?
  31. Finger Painting
  32. I spy Bag : Fill a gallon zip lock bag with confetti and then little random item and let them search .
  33. Painting noodles : Cook a bunch of spaghetti. Add a little paint to the middle and them them swirl and whirl it around on a poster board! It makes for a really cool piece of art!
  34. Stamp it ABC & 123:: Have a page with a lot of letters uppercase and lower case. Show them a letter and let them stamp all of the ones they find. You can also do this with numbers.
  35. Welcome home Daddy Banner.: You don't need them to be gone on a trip to make sure daddy knows we missed him! Buy butcher paper and make daddy a Welcome Home from work banner! I spray different colors of paint all over the poster and then Jaer Rolls and Jumps and slaps and paints the paper for Daddy.
  36. Stick it to it:: This is a fun one I found last summer. We used butcher paper again and I sprayed it with a glue spray. Then we found random things outside, dirt, rocks, grass, flowers etc and throw it against the paper. Most things will stick and it makes for a really cool discovery.
  37. Treats! Making treats anytime with your little one is a learning experience and they LOVE it!
  38. Color a pillow case: This was fun. We used fabric markers and I put out a pillow case. Jaer went to town coloring it. I let it dry and then we put it on his pillow and one his bed. He loves it!
  39. Michaels use those random strips of paper, streamers, tissue paper, glitter etc to have them create a picture frame.
  40. Make it for Mew Maw: No I don't really call my grandma Mew Maw but it sounded cool! We like to every once in a while make things for our outside family. Grandma, Grandpas, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles. Let them decide what to make. Whether its a treat or artsy craft. Even let them wrap it up in construction paper they decorate themselves. They'll love giving the gift and feel pride in it as well.
If you have more fun ideas you want to share go ahead and leave a comment!
We are always up for trying something new!
